This past weekend, the Windows Phone Marketplace hit an important milestone in any app store’s life cycle. The Windows Phone app store reached 10,000 apps and games and did so in the shortest amount of time than any app store prior.
Windows Phone currently adds approximately 100 apps a day to its store and is growing. The average price per app is $2.10. At this incredible rate, the Marketplace should overtake RIM’s Blackberry AppWorld as the number three app store in terms of app count in approximately six months.
This is an impressive feat and should lend credibility to Windows Phone a one of the up-and-coming dominant players in the smartphone game, but the Marketplace is still very far behind both the Apple AppStore and the Android Marketplace.
