One of the more intriquing storylines of the year is the deal that was struck between Microsoft and the established world mobile player Nokia. Windows Phone is off to a good start, but the idea of Nokia’s partnership has many, including Gartner and IDC, predicting that Windows Phone will be a major player in the mobile space within a few years time.
Up until now, the deal was more or less in principle and had not been finalized. Today we’ve received news that the deal is final and Nokia Windows Phones are being produced and may land by the end of this year and mass distribution will definitely come in 2012. In a blog post on The Official Microsoft Blog, Kai Oistamo, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Nokia & Andy Lees, President, Mobile Communications Business for Microsoft both shared the details and their expectations for the partnership.
