This is a small change, but the logo I originally created for Windows Phone Metro left out a major differentiator for Windows Phone — the live tile. My original intent in the logo was to keep the Metro tile theme present and I believe the original accomplished that, but the new logo better shows how Windows Phone’s live tiles are always in motion and keeps the users information right on top of everything. This is the key to Microsoft’s mobile OS and, I believe, is better represented by the new logo. Each tiles design was chosen with a specific purpose and meaning in mind, but I’ll let you guys figure that out.
I’d like to thank Roy for the work he did on the new logo. This logo will be applied across Windows Phone Metro, Twitter and Facebook. Please keep in mind that wherever you see this logo present, you can feel free to ask any questions you may have about Windows Phone and we’ll do our best to answer your questions. If you haven’t already done so, please visit the new Windows Phone Metro Facebook and Twitter pages by using the appropriate buttons on the right sidebar of the home page and I’ll do my best to keep you updated on everything that happens in the Windows Phone world.
