Free, Ad-Supported IM+ Now Available in the Marketplace

IM+ originally released their app into the Marketplace with many complaints that the price was too high at $9.99. They then followed up by slashing the price to $4.99 and including Windows Live Messenger support. Well, SHAPE Services GmbH has upped their game yet again with their latest release of the IM+ client on Windows Phone.

IM+ has released an ad-supported version of their famous instant messaging client for free for Windows Phone and is now available in the Marketplace. Search for “IM Plus” in the Zune PC software or on your Windows Phone (scroll to the bottom of the search list for the free version) to download the new addition to the Marketplace.

(Update: I’ve also noticed that the original $4.99 app has been updated to a Pro version. I’ve yet to find any differences other than the ad support between the two)

IM+ Hits v1.1 and Adds Live Support

IM+ is the all-inclusive instant messaging app for Windows Phone that had almost everything a user would want except support for the most popular IM service on the planet — Live Messenger — at least until now.

WPCentral is reporting that IM+ has hit v1.1 and now includes the ever-popular Windows Live Messenger. This comes on the news of a recent price drop down to $4.99. I’m still showing v1.0 when I search the Marketplace, so it might take a while for the revised version to show.

Head on over to the marketplace and search for “IM Plus” to download the messenger client.

IM+ Messenger Client Now Available

We heard that it may be a while after submitting their app for admission into the Marketplace, but in just a few days time, the famous messenger client from Shape Services has hit the Marketplace for $9.99. The messaging works across multiple services (AIM, Facebook, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, MySpace, Skype and Yahoo! ) and keeps the Metro UI look and feel. Searching the Marketplace for IM+ doesn’t yet yield results, but you can use the following link to open your Zune PC software and download the app from there.

Update: As noted by Dagolara in the comments, if you search for “IM plus”, you will find the IM+ app at the bottom of the list.

IM+ Submitted, Closer to Your Windows Phone

IM+ is a popular instant messenger app and is touted to be the most widely used mobile IM app. IM+ allows users to message and connect to MSN, Yahoo!, Google Talk, AIM, Jabber, ICQ, Facebook, MySpace, Skype, and Twitter users all by using their single app.

The application for Windows Phone has been a long time coming, but the makers of IM+ revealed today, via their Facebook page, that they have submitted their app for approval and are very close to being published in the Marketplace.

This is definitely good news for IM+ users who also own a Windows Phone and it will be interesting to see how great an IM device Windows Phone becomes between IM+ and the extensive messenger integration set to come in the Mango update later this fall.
